Food Craft - May the Force Be With You

I've been a Star Wars fan ever since I was a little kid. There's just something wonderful about the feathered hair, imaginative creatures and the frequent defeat of the Death Star. So when I recieved these William Sonoma cookie press/cutters from my Aunt and Uncle (Thank you!!!) as a surprise, I was thrilled. Now I can have the force and eat it too...(yup that was just bad)!

Um... cute? Anyways, I had an unrelated question. Do you like your silpat mat? They seem neat, but I'm always afraid of putting silicone in the oven. I know they say it's safe, but there are lots of things that people used to think were safe, and they find out too late that they're not. It just goes against everything in me to put a plastic-ish thing into the oven! Let me know what you think! :)

I love my silpat mat. Parchment paper is already coated with a thin layer of silicone so the silpat wastes no paper and can be used for higher heat than parchment paper can. Also, I've done a lot of research and found that all the ingredients in silicone are non-toxic to people, animals, etc. They are also super handy for extra sticky stuff like meringue and rolling out dough. Hope that helps!
